Factions: The Battle of Morals and Motives
Within the Castle’s walls are three unique factions, each with their distinct purpose, powers, and objectives for victory. Only a single faction will emerge triumphant in the eternal clash of good and evil, securing the Castle’s victory.
The Protectors
The Protectors, led by Earlwind Axelot, the founder of Blackwater Village, embody teamwork, compassion, and trust. Their mission is to use magical gifts for the betterment of the world and the understanding of mysticism.
The Satanic
A secretive faction driven by greed and power, The Satanics seeks to overthrow, terrorize, and rule. They employ sabotage and blood sacrifice to win the Castle’s favour.
The Forgotten
Driven by a complex mix of motives, the Forgotten are a diverse group of individuals who operate outside the established factions. Some seek personal gain, others harbour a thirst for revenge, while still others simply revel in the chaos that engulfs the Castle. Their unpredictable nature makes them a wildcard element in the ongoing struggle for power.
Navigate the ever-shifting tides of suspicion as you utilize your unique role abilities, strategic thinking, and keen observation skills to expose the deceptions woven around you. Utilize the day cycle to complete tasks, gather clues, and strategize with your allies. As night falls, the Castle transforms into a breeding ground for chaos, where the Satanics can strike in the shadows, leaving you to question every move and every word.
Roles And A Diverse Cast of Characters
Castle of Blackwater boasts a diverse set of characters, each with unique abilities.
The Protectors
Character examples include:
- Record Keeper: Publishes notes and notebooks to influence voting rounds.
- Sheriff: Can see bloody footsteps left by the killer and easily find dead bodies.
The Satanic
Members of The Satanic showcase abilities such as:
- Silencer: Can silence other players, restricting their ability to talk and chat.
- Psychic: She can use her telepathic abilities to close rooms and turn off lights.
The Forgotten
Challengers like Werewolf and Bully bring chaos with unique win conditions and abilities that increase confusion within the game.
The Gameplay:
The game unfolds over a series of rounds, each divided into a day phase, a night phase, and a voting round.
During the day phase, players:
- Complete tasks assigned by the Castle, using their unique abilities to contribute to the group’s progress.
- Engage in open discussions, sharing information, and forming alliances based on trust and perceived alignment.
- Investigate suspicious behaviour, questioning others and searching for clues that might reveal the identities of the Satanic.
As night falls, the Castle transforms into a breeding ground for deception and danger.
During the night phase, players:
- Can choose whether to stay in the castle, risking their lives and collecting Souls and completing more tasks, or whether to escape to the safe zone, where they can discuss their suspicions in safety and use the tools provided to them to solve the murders.
- Certain roles, like the Vigilante and the Werewolf, have special abilities that can be used to eliminate players, while others can gather more evidence, like the Mentalist.
During the voting phase, players:
- The remaining players deliberate among themselves, discussing the events of the day and voting to eliminate a player they suspect of being part of the Satanic.
- The player who receives the most votes is deemed suspicious and, once voted guilty, is banished from the Castle. Upon their elimination, their true role and faction are revealed.
Unravel the intricate web of lies through various means:
- Investigate suspicious behaviour and report the bodies you discover.
- Utilize your personal notebook to document your observations and deductions.
- Share your thoughts with other players by writing down accusations in the player’s note.
- Understand each player’s abilities, and try to catch others lying about their roles.
- Engage in heated debates and accusations during the voting rounds, swaying the opinions of others.
The game continues until:
- All members of the Satanic faction have been eliminated, resulting in a victory for the Protectors.
- All members of the Protector faction have been eliminated, resulting in a victory for the Satanic.
- The Protectors have completed enough tasks to fill up their XP bar, allowing them to win.
- The game lasts longer than 5 days, meaning an instant victory for the Satanic.

Game Modes: Diverse Ways To Play:
Casual and Ranked game modes are two exciting ways to play Castle of Blackwater.
- Casual, hitting PC first and then mobile, is free-to-play with a touch of restrictions on character choices. Use earned GOLD (soft currency) for in-game purchases or CRYSTALS (hard currency) for premium items. Casual ensures everyone can join the fun, but acquired assets are non-tradeable.
- Unlocking after polishing Casual, Ranked game modes requires owning a blockchain-based ‘ranked’ character (NFT) for competitive play. Fueled by the $COBE and $COBS tokens, these characters offer an exclusive experience and can be traded or rented via a custom marketplace.
Character Bidding:
In an effort to make things exciting, Castle of Blackwater introduces character bidding. Spend in-game $COBS tokens to boost your chances of playing a specific faction or character. Those who own characters can secure their choices, while others may get random assignments. Set your favourite characters before a game and bid for them using tokens. It’s a dynamic system to balance the game’s economy, with revenues contributing to future player rewards. Expect tweaks as they fine-tune the experience for the perfect gaming balance!
Character Collectables:
Castle of Blackwater introduces a unique character ownership system through Generations:
- Generation X (Genesis): This limited collection currently consists of only 696 Character Collectibles, offered to the game’s earliest supporters. These characters act as the initial batch for playtesting and balancing purposes. Owning a Genesis character grants early access and exclusive benefits within the game.
- Generation Y (Progressus): After character balancing is complete, a larger batch of 1000 Character Collectibles is released, forming Generation Y. This ensures wider accessibility while maintaining some level of rarity.
- Generation Z (Finalis): If the demand for a character is exceptionally high, a final and largest batch (capped supply yet to be determined) becomes available as Generation Z.
Ranked vs. Casual Characters:
- A maximum of 10,000 copies of each character will ever be created for the Ranked game mode. This limited supply fosters a secondary market value for these characters. Players can acquire them through buying or renting from other owners.
- Casual characters have no supply limit and are untradeable. They are readily available for players who prefer not to engage in the trading aspects of Ranked mode. These characters will be much cheaper to buy, creating a low barrier to entry.
Benefits of Owning Character Collectibles:
- Early access and playtesting: Genesis owners gain valuable early access and contribute to character balancing through playtesting.
- Ranked mode participation: Owning a Ranked character grants access to the competitive Ranked game mode.
- Secondary market value: The limited supply of Ranked characters allows owners to participate in the game’s “Play to Earn” economy by renting or selling their characters to other players.
Genesis Collection:
The Castle of Blackwater Generation X Genesis collection is almost sold out, with only 130 left for sale. A portion is reserved for future community events and giveaways. The ranked economy in Castle of Blackwater introduces a dual-token system comprising a value-accrual token ($COBE) and a medium of exchange token ($COBS). This innovative economic model incorporates protocols designed to maintain a harmonious balance between value injection and extraction.
- $COBS: Players in Castle of Blackwater can earn $COBS through various activities, including playing ranked COB, winning ranked matches, and completing ranked quests. These earned tokens can be used for character bidding during ranked games. Additionally, players can purchase $COBS from the liquidity pool. The earned tokens can be spent on various activities such as bidding for characters, acquiring most cosmetics in the ranked mode, renting characters, and covering marketplace trading fees. However, players should also be mindful as $COBS is spent on renting living spaces in the game.
- $COBE is the “ECOSYSTEM” token used to buy characters and premium cosmetics. In Castle of Blackwater, players earn $COBE through staking rewards, tournaments, and quests, using it to buy premium cosmetics, characters, land plots, and exclusive living spaces.
